What are Custom Robots header tags
Custom Robots Header Tags are Meta Tags, which give information to the search engine about what we want to index on the search engine and what not. As we know that no person is indexing our blog posts on search engines.
All this work is done by a program that we know as Web Crawling or Bot (also called “Spider”), these bots send the crawler or spider to index the updated content on the blog and The crawler first scans the robots meta tag, and with the help of robots meta tags, it knows which content of this site to index on the search engines.
Are custom Robots header tags necessary?
Suppose there is a page on your blog that you do not want to index on the search engine, then you can block that page by using the Noindex meta tag. Some pages of bloggers like archive, label, search, etc.
If we do not want to index on search engines, then we can prevent the such page from being indexed with the help of Custom Robots Header Tags. Now you must have understood how important Custom Robots Header Tags are for the SEO of the blog.
How to Settings Custom Robots Header Tags
Before setting Custom Robots Header Tags in Blogger, you need to know some things which are very important. There are 3 main sections in the Custom Robots Header Tags setting.
- Homepage
- Archive and Search pages
- The default for Posts and Pages
And the options of 10 Header tags are given in the whole section, first, you must know about what is the function of each tag:
1. By enabling all the tags, the search engine indexes your site independently, meaning Whatever crawler will scan, will be indexed on the search engine.
2. Noindex This means that Robots cannot index your blog page. You can prevent crawlers from indexing pages on search engines by adding a noindex tag. If you do not want any page to appear on the search result, then you can use the noindex tag.
3. Nofollow This tag does not allow your blog and links to be followed by the search engine. Nor can you index on search engines.
4. None By using this tag, the search engine will ignore your blog, that is, this robots tag does not allow your blog to be submitted to the search engine.
5. Noarchive does not allow the cache page of our blog to be indexed by using this tag. Because the cache of our blog is saved on the google server and even if the blog is unavailable, it loads it from the cache. If you don’t want to show the cache page, you can use noarchive tag.
6. Nosnippet You must have seen that in addition to the title and links of the post in the search results, there is some part of the blog below, it is called a snippet. If you want to remove the snippet from the search result then you can use this tag.
7. Noodp Google uses Open Directory Project (ODP) to show any page result that contains Post Title and Description in Google search results If you want to remove ODP search results from your site then you can use noodp tag. Here I suggest you use noodp tag so that your post shows properly in search results.
8. Notranslate If you want to prevent your site from being translated into any other language, you can use the notranslate tag.
9. Noimageindex If you do not want the images of the blog to appear in the search results, then use the noimageindex tag.
10. Unavailable_after If you do not want to index a post but want to show it in search results temporarily for some time and then later want to remove that post from the search results then you can use the unavailable_after tag. In this tag, you can set the date to remove the post from the search result.
